Enjoying the Special Allowance of the State Council Since 1973, the Institute of Neurology of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has taken the lead in the domestic research on the clinical treatment of hepatolenticular degeneration with integrated Chinese and Western medicine. In the 40-year in-depth research, it has taken the lead in the domestic research on the etiology and pathology, pathogenesis, diagnostic classification, treatment and efficacy evaluation of hepatolenticular degeneration (WD). In-depth and systematic research, significant and creative results have been achieved, A set of perfect diagnosis and treatment system of WD is put forward.

· The first domestic dimercaptosulfonate high-dose impact treatment of WD; · The first domestic zinc gluconate treatment of WD; · The first domestic use of dimercaptosuccinate capsules for the treatment of WD;

· The first application of dimercaptosuccinate injection in the treatment of WD in China;

· The first series of research on the treatment of WD with traditional Chinese medicine in China;

· Published the first WD monograph Hepatolenticular Degeneration in China;

· Participated in the formulation of China's first "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hepatolenticular Degeneration in China".

As of December 2012, 15,000 hepatolenticular degeneration patients from all over the country, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, and from the United States, Spain, France, Italy and other overseas countries have been treated, with a total effective rate of 91.16 per cent. Professor Fahn, vice chairman of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation of the United States, former deputy editor-in-chief of Neurology, and Professor Aposhian of Columbia University have made a special trip to our center to visit and exchange views on the treatment of hepatolenticular degeneration.
